Rev. Cassandra and Kilen Gray
Kilen & Cassandra Gray has served together as pastor and first lady of the New Mt. Zion Baptist Church for 30 years. Through their leadership, the church has moved forward with a vision to serve the community from a family focus. The church’s mission – to win souls for Christ by serving as a family healing center – is lived out through the many ministries developed by the Grays. These ministries include Creative Spirits Counseling Center, a mental health agency serving hundreds of families with emotional, mental and chemical dependency issues; GGT, Inc., the community development corporation of NMZBC, which provides housing, tutoring & mentoring, computer skills training, adolescent career development and violence prevention activities through the summer youth program. Through their preaching and teaching ministry, the church is experiencing growth both numerically and spiritually.
Kilen received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity degree from the Simmons College of Kentucky and currently serves as Dean of Students for the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. Cassandra is the Executive Clinical Director of Creative Spirits Counseling Center, L.L.C of Shelbyville, Kentucky and philosophy of treatment encompasses a holistic approach utilizing spirituality, prevention and intervention efforts together. Both Kilen and Cassandra are Kentucky Colonels, the highest honor awarded by the Commonwealth of Kentucky which is given by the Governor and the Secretary of State.
The Grays have served as consultants to churches, associations, community organizations and businesses on topics such as grant writing, non-profit/faith-based institutions, leadership development and community development. They serve as instructors for the Central District Baptist Association’s J. L. Roberts School of Religion Christian marriage class. Through Creative Spirits Ministries, Inc, the Grays present life-changing experiences through the Seasons of Love Marriage Conference, C.R.U.N.K.Fest (Christ Raising Up New Kids) Youth Conference, the Family Conference, the Women’s Conference and The Intercessors’ Gathering. The Grays are under the spiritual covering of Bishop T. D. Jakes through the Potters House International Pastors Alliance (PHIPA).
